BioControl has so far implanted 50 patients in its ongoing clinical trials and results are very promising. Treatment of congestive heart failure is BioControl’s second area of focus. Using its unidirectional selective neuromodulation technique to stimulate the vagus nerve, BioControl aims to reduce stress of the heart muscle by lowering heart rate. The technique allows for reduced muscle stress while increasing cardiac output when necessary. The CardioFit implantable device is in preclinical studies being tested in a chronically sick animal model at the Henry Ford Institute in Detroit with promising initial results.
